Road Safety Week runs from 18th to 24th November and focuses on raising awareness of the dangers that can face all road users, particularly cyclists and pedestrians. Having worked previously in Road Safety, Mims knows how important it is that everyone using our roads feels able to go out and about safely, particularly during the darker and colder winter months.
Mims says:
“From my work in road safety with Sussex Police and local councils I know just how important it is for our communities to work together to make a difference.
All of our local authorities have such an important role to play and I applaud the initiatives being run by Brake in partnership with the Police, Fire Services and Health Professionals as well as Driving Instructors, Fleet Managers and Teams from Local Authorities and I’m really keen this continues to go from strength to strength.”
Liz Brooker, chair, Road Safety GB said:
“Road safety professionals face year-round challenges of reducing road crashes, but Road Safety Week provides a specific focal point and opportunity to grab the attention of the media and the wider community. Road Safety GB encourages road safety teams – and other stakeholders – to take full advantage of the opportunity Road Safety Week provides."
