Eastleigh MP Mims Davies attended the official naming ceremony of the 'Wetwheels Hamble' boat at the Royal Southern Yacht Club last weekend.
Former Hampshire Lord-Lieutenant Dame Mary Fagan cut the ribbon held by Wetwheels founder and disabled yachtsman Geoff Holt to name the charity’s third boat.
Wet wheels offers opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people to access the sea in a stimulating and rewarding way through specially modified, fully accessible powerboats.
Later in the afternoon young people from Rose Road Association in Southampton got a chance to enjoy a trip out.
“This is a fantastic charity founded by an incredible man, who should be an inspiration to us all and it was an honour to be present,” said Mims.
“I hope that the opportunities that Wetwheels provide go from strength to strength and open new horizons for all those who can benefit from the invaluable and liberating experience of getting on the water.”
