Statement – Mims Davies MP – Attack on Paramedics in Eastleigh – 27th June 2018
“I am deeply saddened by the reports of attacks on paramedics occurring yesterday evening. Our emergency workers, including our paramedics, work tirelessly to save lives day after day, and they deserve to be able to go to work without fear of assault. It is therefore particularly concerning to learn that such young members of our community have been at the forefront of this violent act.
“Last year the Government supported the Protect our Protectors Bill, which will make crimes committed against emergency workers an aggravating factor to be considered during sentencing, and increase the maximum sentence for commons assault from 6 months to a year. This is a move that I welcome, as do the vast majority of my constituents across Eastleigh and the wider Eastleigh area.”
