Championing Active Lifestyles

As Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Running in Westminster, and having proudly completed in the London Marathon in 2017, Mims is a committed advocate of all sport both for fitness and for fun.

Eastleigh is home to many successful sports team, and Mims is particularly keen that youngsters in the constituency have plenty of opportunities to reap the benefits that come from an active lifestyle. Sports can be good for both physical and mental well-being, and helps to develop a real sense of community for those with similar interests.

Mims also works to ensure the volunteers and institutions that underpin sports groups and events get the recognition they deserve for their hard work.

Mims said,

'We are lucky to have two local Park Run initiatives in both Netley and Eastleigh, as well as the Eastleigh 10k, and I want to ensure that wonderful schemes such as these are promoted and supported.'

'I'm a self-confessed "bad runner", but it's fairly addictive and I'm always hoping to get a little bit faster when I have the time to train.'

Mims looks forward to running in the 2018 London Marathon, and to fundraise further for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
