Championing Active Lifestyles

As the former Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Running in Westminster, and having proudly completed in the London Marathon in 2017, Mims is a committed advocate of all sport both for fitness and for fun.

Mid Sussex is home to many successful sports teams and clubs, and Mims is particularly keen that youngsters in the constituency have plenty of opportunities to reap the benefits that come from an active lifestyle. Sports can be good for both physical and mental well-being, and helps to develop a real sense of community for those with similar interests.

Mims also works to ensure the volunteers and institutions that underpin sports groups and events get the recognition they deserve for their hard work.

Mims said,

'As a keen sportswoman I am all to aware of the positive impact exercise has on our lives. During my time as a local councillor here I set up the Haywards Heath Sports forum and founded the Mid Sussex Marathon weekend which is run across East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill across a weekend.'

'I'm a self-confessed "bad runner", but it's fairly addictive and I'm always hoping to get a little bit faster when I have the time to train.'
