What a Great Big Green Week we've had across the country! It was wonderful to see so many groups across Mid Sussex holding events over the last week.
Whether it was insightful zooms to help us understand what we can all do to play our part, events with key local speakers, or local groups meeting to discuss these issues, there was something for everyone!
On Saturday, I was delighted to be invited by Fairer World Lindfield to meet with Dan Burdett at Cockhaise Farm, to understand and discuss the positive benefits of farming to the local and wider community, particularly regenerative and sustainable approaches, as well as how local authorities can also get involved. It was a thought-provoking, information-filled afternoon enjoyed by all.
On Sunday, I was invited to spend time with the lovely congregation of St Augustine’s Church. We walked through the beautiful Costell’s Woods, near their church, to discuss local issues and Government's approach to tackling climate change.
I have more visits planned this week and it's always heartening to see how passionate residents of Mid Sussex are about protecting our Environment.
As I said, we all need to play our part. Many of the actions that we can take ourselves are incredibly simple: recycling properly, insulating our homes, turning off lights, not keeping the fridge door open, and adding an extra layer instead of turning our heating up are many ways that we can all help.
The Government are also continuing to lead the global fight to save our planet, and we will be hosting COP26 in a month's time!
