This week is ‘Great Big Green Week’, when tens of thousands of people come together across the UK for the biggest week of action on climate and nature - with this week being the biggest one yet! This is a celebration of nature and an expression of democracy, and there are over 4500 events celebrating action on climate change.
With the UN General Assembly meeting this week, and climate change being the focus of much of the discussions, its never been more clear that we need to keep leading the global fight to save our environment and go greener. This week is all about the difference each of our actions can make, and its so important we come together for events like this to learn more about what we can all do in our day to day lives, and how we can support communities and businesses to take steps to be more environmentally friendly.
These discussions are so important, and I've been having them at length with constituents, feeding their thoughts and concerns back to my colleagues in Westminster and DEFRA.
I will also be taking part in local events this week, including visiting a farm in Lindfield to hear about what steps they are taking to protect our beautiful, local environment and be greener. Farmers are key to our conservation and work tirelessly to support our local wildlife and countryside. I will also be meeting with local members CLA at More House Farm, who are championing environmental protection and the rural economy.
