I am very pleased to see the Government have now launched a public consultation to make outdoor measures for high streets and businesses permanent, to continue helping them become long term, thriving places to work, visit and live.
These proposed planning reforms will support streets, markets, businesses and attractions across the country, enabling outdoor space to be used more easily.
This includes allowing marquees to be put up in pub grounds and street markets operating all year round – these key reforms will allow people to enjoy outdoor hospitality and local sites, providing opportunities for businesses to innovate.
The public will now be able to give their views on the proposed reforms, so they can continue to benefit everyone in the future.
This consultation contains proposed changes to two permitted development rights in the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 which were introduced to support businesses and the high street in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
