The Member of Parliament for Eastleigh and Charities and Lottery Minister, Mims Davies, has this week attended an event in Parliament in support of the National Lottery and their community fund which has raised £780,000 for 40 local projects over the last 5 years.
The event helped to promote some of the important local causes that National Lottery players supported such as #FriendsOfInTouch which supports people with Autism; Eastleigh’s first Pride event that the Eastleigh MP attended in the summer and Groundwork UK which supports projects across the local area and across the country.
Welcoming the local funding, Eastleigh MP, Mims Davies said:
“It was really great to see some of the fantastic work local groups and charities, some of them well known to us, and others less so, but all backed by the National Lottery’s Community Fund, have done over the past five years. Local projects are the life blood of our community in Eastleigh and they are vital to the success of the local area.
“£780,000 is a significant amount of money going into our area, and I thank everyone who buys a ticket and by doing so supports our local community!
“I am sure that in future these projects will go from strength to strength and the funding from the National Lottery will come to support more great work, both in Eastleigh and across the country and I would be very happy to visit some of them in the coming months, and local organisations need only drop me an email if they would like me to do so.”
