The Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, has called on her constituents to get involved in the UK’s ninth annual Parliament Week, which will begin on Saturday 2nd November 2019. Thousands of events will be taking place to celebrate Parliament Week across the UK, each designed to show different ways in which our Parliament directly impacts their communities.
UK Parliament Week also encourages organisations to get involved and allow their community to share their voice. Organisations receive a free activity pack containing activities, discussion topics, voting, quizzes and much more, depending on the type of organisation it is.
Commenting, Eastleigh MP Mims Davies said:
“I’m really proud to have arranged for thousands of local people to take part in a tour of Parliament during my time as Eastleigh’s MP, including local students of all ages, while also visiting local schools and colleges in our area to hear their views, and UK Parliament Week is another fantastic way for local people to learn about how what happens in our Parliament effects their lives day to day. I’ve also really enjoyed having local students join me in Parliament for Work Experience, which has been really valuable for all involved.
“Crucially, UK Parliament Week is an opportunity for people across our area to engage with politics in an educational environment, leading to more political participation – which benefits everyone.”
In the South East of England there are 1,642 events already lined up, with 11,290 activities and events already organised throughout the United Kingdom.
