Eastleigh MP Mims Davies has welcomed a significant funding boost for schools across Eastleigh, which are set to receive an average of 5.8% more funding per pupil next year as part of the Government’s recent multi-billion pound investment in primary and secondary education.
The Eastleigh MP welcomed the new funding, saying the commitment that every secondary school pupil will receive a minimum of £5,000 next year and every primary school pupil will receive a minimum of £4,000 by 2021-22 will reassure parents of the Government’s promise to deliver the best for their children.
Commenting, Eastleigh MP Mims Davies said:
“I’ve loved meeting local students and their dedicated teachers and support staff during my local visits, as well as during their visits to Parliament, and I know what a huge difference this funding boost will make. Every child in Eastleigh deserves the best possible start in life – regardless of their background or where they live, and this funding will deliver that.
“The average funding increase of 5.8% per pupil next year will mean that every school in our area will receive a budget increase, giving our fantastic teachers, parents and pupils the certainty to plan, and supercharging standards in our schools.
“This new funding will also target those schools who need the most support, making sure that every parent in Eastleigh can be sure their children are getting a world class education.”
