‘It's vital that local voices are heard over Esso Pipeline plans’, says Eastleigh MP Mims Davies

The Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, has said that it is ‘vital’ that her constituents feed in their views to a consultation over the route for Esso’s Southampton to London Pipeline Project, which opened on Tuesday.

The project will look to replace 90km of a 105km pipeline running from Fawley Refinery to Esso’s West London Terminal Facility near Heathrow, which the company has said will largely run along the same route of the current pipeline and will be buried underground.

Commenting, Eastleigh MP Mims Davies said:

“My constituents will recognise that infrastructure such as this strategic pipeline will need to be renewed, however, it is vital that their views are taken into account as part of this project, particularly in relation to the possible impact upon the environment and local communities.

“This consultation will be the third held by Esso over these plans, and is a key opportunity for my constituents to ensure that their voices are heard, before the plans go forward for development consent later this year.

“The closing date for the consultation is the 19th February, and if any constituents would like to feed their thoughts in to me before I put in my own submission, then I would welcome them doing so either via email to mims.davies.mp@parliament.uk or by post.”
