Eastleigh MP, Mims Davies was yesterday appointed as Assistant Government Whip in Theresa May’s reshuffle.
Commenting Mims said:
“I am delighted to have become an Assistant Government Whip. It is an honour and great privilege to have been asked by the Prime Minister to serve in the Government with responsibility for ensuring that the Government’s agenda and the manifesto it was elected on makes its way through the Commons successfully.
“I am proud of my previous work as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and am now keen to get to work on this new challenge.
“I will continue to be a diligent constituency MP and keep on working hard for everybody living in Eastleigh, Hedge End and the Villages, both in the constituency and in Westminster.”
An Assistant Government Whip works in the Government Whips’ Office and is responsible for helping to ensure that the Government’s legislative programme is passed through the House of Commons. The position is of the equivalent rank to a junior ministerial role, and office holders fully take part in the collective responsibility of government.
