The Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, has attended the AGM for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Angling, confirming the continuation of her membership of the Group.
Commenting Mims said:
“The specialised chalk stream that forms part of the River Itchen within my constituency of Eastleigh is a popular location for anglers, and I am delighted that this Government has again committed to support angling and the numerous benefits – economic, environmental, social and health – that it brings to communities and individuals alike.”
“The AGM of the APPG on Angling was yet again a great opportunity to meet with colleagues cross-party and discuss the importance of not just supporting but indeed promoting angling, whilst also hearing from specialists for this area at the Angling Trust.”
The Guest Speaker at the event was again former MP and founding member of the APPG Martin Salter, who provided an outline of the Angling Trust’s current campaigns, including concerns surrounding the declining condition of rivers due to agricultural pollution and over abstraction.
