On Monday evening, the Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, took on a new role as Quiz Master for the King and Queen Pub Quiz in aid of local charity ‘The Red Lipstick Foundation’.
Commenting, Mims said:
“This was a great opportunity to fund raise for this local charity who provide support to families in their time of need. Too many families suddenly find themselves in a situation in which one of their relatives has suddenly been taken from them, either as a result of suicide or an undetected health condition.”
“As a local MP I have raised both of these subjects in Parliament, having support a Bill calling for more defibrillators to be made available within our communities, as well as speaking out on the importance of tackling mental health in people of all ages and in all sections of society. The Government is making tracks on these important issues, but nevertheless, the support provided by charities, like the Red Lipstick Foundation, is key to so many families.”
“I was therefore delighted that Monday evening’s event was so well attended, raising £100 for the chosen charity. I’d like to say thank you to Pub Landlady Janet and her amazing team at The King and Queen for hosting the evening and a special thank you goes out to the winning teams who donated their winnings back into the funds raised for The Red Lipstick Foundation.”
The King and Queen Pub in the High Street, Hamble, hosted this event which is popular with local residents. The quiz, on Monday 12th February, was a sell out with 13 teams and over 60 competitors. The Red Lipstick Foundation, founded in 2014, is a Hampshire based charity dedicated to supporting families bereaved by suicide or sudden death.
