Mims Davies MP addresses rumours of Uckfield Post Office Closures
Post offices are at the heart of our communities here in East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages, providing far more than just mail services.
Mims spoke with the Royal Mail team explaining their importance and how they offer essential access to banking, bill payments, government services, and parcel collection, supporting people of all ages in EGU - especially those who rely on face-to-face assistance.
For many, the local post office is a trusted, familiar place that helps reduce isolation and keeps communities connected.
Mims is working to protect our post offices as they provide the vital services and social connections that strengthen our neighbourhoods and support our elderly and more vulnerable residents.
Mims Davies MP said:
I've been made aware of concerns about the Post Office provision in our town, and I know many residents will be worried by the rumours about the current location.
Please be assured that I am already on the case and I've asked for more information so I can understand exactly what is happening and what the plans are and ensure residents are made aware too.
While there are smaller Post Office branches available in nearby communities, our town needs and deserves a Post Office in the town centre. It's an essential service that local people rely on and other locations just are not viable or accessible, particularly for our older and more vulnerable residents.
I'd like to assure residents that I will continue pressing for answers and will keep you updated as soon as I have more information
