Mims Davies MP announces EGU Jobs Fair and Conservative Policy for Younger Generations
As a mother of 2, Mims has always made it clear that as an MP one of her goals is to ensure our younger generations voices are heard and they're given opportunities to help their future.
Mims was formally the Minister for Social Mobility, Youth and Progression and whilst in the role hosted a special visit for a group of young people who took part in the Kickstart Scheme at the Houses of Parliament.
As an MP and former Minister, Mims has also spent a lot of her time promoting apprenticeships and skills training instead of what she describes as “debt-trap” university courses. Supporting proposals for more apprenticeship funding, incentives for employers hiring young apprentices, and savings schemes for people entering their first jobs.
Whilst helping people get onto the property ladder and into jobs and apprenticeships, Mims has also been a huge advocate for stronger mental health support for children and young people, including family Hubs, Mental Health Support Teams in schools, CAMHS expansion, and early intervention hubs for ages 11–25.
From 'Meet Mims', Supermarket Surgeries, Pub Meets, Business Breakfasts and so many more events - Mims is excited to announce she is organising a Jobs Fair in East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages with more news to come shortly.
Mims Davies MP said:
Introducing my EGU Jobs Fair!
I'm thrilled to announce not only our new Conservative policy and deal for younger people in EGU and beyond, but also that I'll be hosting a Jobs Fair here in EGU - bringing together local employers and opportunities for all.
We’re setting out a New Deal for Young People to back the next generation, including:
More apprenticeships for 18–21 year olds
A £5,000 First Job Bonus to help young people save for the future
Changes to student loans so debt doesn’t grow faster than inflation
Scrapping Stamp Duty on primary homes to help more young people get on the property ladder
This is about giving young people real opportunity, skills, and a fair start in life.
If you’re looking for work, training, or career opportunities, keep an eye out on my socials and my newsletter for more details on the EGU Jobs Fair coming soon!
