Mims Davies MP has been appointed in the new Parliament as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Rt. Hon. Sajid Javid MP, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
“I am delighted to have been appointed as PPS to Sajid and look forward to the opportunity to support the work of such a vital government department.
“I have previously been a parish, town and district councillor before I became an MP, so I know first hand the importance of strong local government which represents local communities and this is something I have campaigned on locally in the Eastleigh Constituency.
“Having previously been the PPS to a Minister of State, I look forward to the new challenge of being the PPS to a Cabinet Minister.
“I’m really proud of the work I did as a PPS in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport being part of three key government bills, which became Acts of Parliament, covering the National Citizen Service, protection of cultural property and I was immensely proud of being part of the Digital Economy Bill which makes our internet safer, makes government more digitalised and brought in new regulations for the BBC. I look forward to making an impact with the Department of Communities and Local Government and thank the Prime Minister for the opportunity.”
A Parliamentary Private Secretary serves as the link between Government Ministers and backbenchers and is part of the government for the purposes of collective responsibility.
Formerly Mims served as PPS to Rt. Hon. Matt Hancock MP, Minister of State for Digital and Culture in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
