With record breaking temperatures upon us demand for tap water remains high. I urge everyone to help reduce demand
Demand for tap water remains exceptionally high across our supply area as record breaking temperatures are anticipated in the next 36 hours. High demand, combined with very little rainfall, is continuing to put immense pressure on the supply network. In order to make sure there's enough for all, I am urging everyone to use water for essential use only and still need your help sharing that message.
Below are some top water saving tips residents can use:
Taking a shorter shower or ensuring you run a full load in the washing machine might not sound like a big deal, but it's making all the difference this summer.
Taking a quick shower instead of a bath can save 45 litres of water
💧 Reducing your shower time by just five minutes can save 50 litres of water
💧 Using a watering can instead of a hosepipe or sprinkler could save up to 1,000 litres per hour!
You can help reduce supply and pressure issues even further by only using water for essential use during peak times, when demand is at its highest. During hot weather, this is between 7am and 11am, and 4pm-11pm.
