Mims Davies MP, GTR and Network Rail meet in Uckfield discussing the Uckfield Line and services
Mims joined representatives from GTR and Network Rail in Uckfield to hear directly from them about updates and to share residents’ concerns surrounding local rail services and to discuss the future of the Uckfield Line and the Uckfield–Lewes rail route.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Mims to raise your concerns and experiences as passengers and local residents, including the reliability and frequency of services, capacity, disruption and the wider need for investment in rail infrastructure across our area and constituency.
During the visit, Mims shared concerns raised by passengers about the current service and discussed the importance of ensuring the voices of communities along the Uckfield Line are heard when decisions about the future of the railway are being considered.
Particular attention was given to the Uckfield–Lewes line, including the long-standing calls for the route to be reopened and the potential benefits that a rail connection between Uckfield and Lewes could bring to residents, businesses and communities across East Sussex.

The 7:03 from Uckfield is back!
I joined a meeting with the GTR team and Network Rail to discuss our rail services here in Uckfield and I was pleased to hear the 7:03am service is now back to running with 6 - 8 carriages, which will hopefully provide some much-needed additional capacity for passengers.
Most importantly, I made sure to share the concerns, frustrations, and experiences that so many of you have taken the time to share with me via email and my online survey.
Your feedback matters, and I will continue to raise these issues directly with those responsible for our services.
There is of course still more work to do to improve reliability, capacity, and the overall experience for passengers using the Uckfield station, but I will keep pushing for the improvements our community needs and deserves
