Mims Davies MP honoured to speak with local Hospices at Hospice UK event in Parliament
Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.
Mims was honoured to join the event speaking to Hospices as hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care.
More people are dying in the UK. After decades of a stable, slightly declining death rate, demographic trends mean that the annual number of deaths - currently approximately 650,000 - is steadily increasing. It will reach 780,000 in 2040.
Our ageing population means that more and more people are living with complex, long-term conditions such as frailty and dementia, which require specialist management.
Mims Davies MP said:
It was a privilege to join Hospice UK’s Parliamentary event and speak with the incredible, hard-working teams from some of our local hospices here in EGU including St Catherine’s Hospice, the Southern Hospice Group , and St Wilfred’s Hospice.
Their compassion and dedication supporting resident and families at some of the most difficult times is truly inspiring.
I had the opportunity to hear first-hand about both the challenges they face and the difference they make every single day and how I can further assist them as the local MP.
I will of course continue to champion their brilliant work.
