Mims Davies MP joins BBC Politics South East speaking on Updating Train Services

Train services in East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages is a huge topic of conversation for residents and Mims is acutely aware of the concerns, worries, and frustration on this.

Mims has held meetings with GTR consistently on this subject, sharing resident's views and submissions from Mims' online survey - a recent meeting from March can be found here:

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) also held a Parliamentary Event which Mims was first through the door for sharing constituents views and discussing possible improvements:

Mims Davies MP said:

Improving our railways is vital for our economy, our environment and for the thousands of passengers in EGU and beyond who rely on trains every single day to get to work, school, health appointments, and to see family and friends.

Real improvement cannot just mean a new logo or a lick of paint. After countless meetings with GTR and cross-party discussions about the future of the Thameslink network, it is clear that passengers want meaningful change, and fast.

People across our communities pay a huge amount for rail tickets and deserve a service that is reliable, comfortable, safe and fit for the future.

It means modernising our railways and fixing bottlenecks including in Croydon. The Buxted and Uckfield lines are still reliant on diesel trains... we should be exploring cleaner alternatives such as battery or solar-powered technology.

Passengers also deserve the basics for the prices we're paying: reliable WiFi, comfortable seating instead of “ironing board” seats, and stronger safety measures so people feel secure when travelling.

Please be assured I am constantly working on this, I know how important it is to EGU residents, and I will be raising it every chance I have.
