Mims Davies MP joins Family Business Week event
Family Business Week shines a light on the amazing work of family businesses across the country including East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages, ensuring the contribution they make to our economy and communities is recognised and celebrated.
Alongside celebrations of Britainโs outstanding family businesses, in 2025 Family Business Week highlighted the ambition and resilience of family firms as they look beyond borders to shape a connected, global future.
93% of all private firms in the UK are family businesses. Thatโs 5.1 million businesses and they need our support.
Family business leaders inherently put the interests of the next generation in mind, take a long-term view, and as the owners and stewards of the business, have greater freedom to experiment, innovate, and invest in their people and communities. They see the values people bring to the organisation as an important asset to be protected and nurtured.

On the 1st Day of Christmas...
I'm sharing a picture of the fabulous Christmas tree from last week's Family Business Week event.
Family Business Week is an annual national celebration of the vital contribution they make to the country's economy and communities, and especially our local economy here in EGU where we have so many hard-working family businesses and family farmers.
I was honoured to recently meet multiple family businesses including The Peacock Inn in Piltdown and the Butterbox Farm in Scaynes Hill discussing challenges they're facing and how I can help as their MP and the impact from the Budget.
As we're now in the Christmas period, when buying your Christmas presents and planning Christmas dinners, it's important to remember to shop local as our family businesses really really need our support.
They are the backbone of the British economy, sustaining our local communities, and driving long-term growth through stability, resilience, and local investment.
