Mims Davies MP leads Five Bells Heritage Festival with Chailey Heritage Tractor Club

The Chailey Heritage Tractor Club, instigated by a few friends who have traditionally organised an annual tractor run in aid of charity, have now formed the Chailey Classic and Vintage Tractor Club and membership is open to all interested parties irrespective of location and it is not a requirement to own a machine.

Vice Chairman and Parish Councillor Peter Olbrich said:

A few of us over the years have grouped together to organise an annual tractor run in support of charity. Chailey Classic & Vintage Tractor Club has aligned itself to St Peter & St James Hospice which is our chosen and designated charity.

The founder members have created a Facebook page, website and club logo and CCVTC members have already started referring to themselves as “The Chigleys”, in affectionate memory of the children’s popular television series based around Chailey and Plumpton.

The group has a committee of local enthusiasts and has ambitious plans to extend its initiative in an attempt to raise funds for the Hospice in a manner of ways, including branded products made from fresh produce donated to the Club from local farms which might otherwise be wasted and a community cinema club showing vintage and agriculturally related films.

Just your average Saturday as an MP!

It was an honour and so much fun flying the flag for our rural communities - they work so hard for us 24/7 365 keeping food on our plates.

I was proud to be driving the lead tractor at the Five Bells Harvest Festival with the brilliant Chailey Heritage Tractor Club
