Mims Davies MP reacts to Spring Budget
Mims Davies MP said:
Well, today we heard from the Chancellor for the Spring Budget.
Please watch my video for my initial thoughts.
So beyond the headlines and Chamber bluster today the Chancellor claimed they have the ‘right economic plan’ – and they won’t change course but this frankly should have been the moment to change direction and to actually listen.
Because UK Economic growth HALVED for the year, Unemployment is forecast to be HIGHEST SINCE THE PANDEMIC and Welfare spending UP to untenable levels with 18 billion further in the forecast by 2031.
Labour should have acted already cut welfare spending and ended their tax assault on businesses to get Britain working again. We do need a welfare system that is there when you need it, it’s there for our most vulnerable and that work always pays.
A stronger country requires a stronger economy. We in Kemi, have a leader with a backbone, we have clear plan and the experienced team to deliver a stronger economy and get Britain working again.
Reminder:
- Growth for 2026 has HALVED.
- Unemployment UP and is sadly higher than during the pandemic. Particularly for our young people.
- Living standards are DOWN. Real household disposable income will slow toward the end of the Parliament.
I will keep pushing for a future we all want- for it not too be too darned difficult for our children, local families, sectors and all businesses- particularly family businesses, our farmers who feed us and hospitality and local pubs.
