Mims Davies MP shares GTR updates with residents
These is an update on the disruption to Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express services today, Monday 19th January.
Unfortunately, the engineering work being carried out during the weekend by Network Rail between Gatwick Airport and East Croydon will overrun. The delays to the work will mean only 2 of the 4 lines between Gatwick Airport and Purley will be available for trains to use.
As a result, there will be a reduced and amended service in place across the Gatwick Express, Thameslink and Southern network, and we currently expect that:
- Gatwick Express services between Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria will be suspended
- Southern services between Reigate, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria will be suspended
- Southern services between Redhill and Tonbridge will be suspended
- Thameslink services between Brighton and Cambridge will be suspended. Stops at Ashwell & Morden will be covered by services between Cambridge and King’s Cross
- Peak time Southern services between Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Eastbourne and London Bridge will not run
- No services will stop at Earlswood and Salfords all day – unfortunately, with only two of the four lines available, it would not be possible to reliably call at these two stations without reducing the number of services running further
Ticket acceptance is being arranged to help customers complete their journeys, and we are looking at what replacement buses we will be able to run – with a focus on Redhill – Tonbridge and Redhill – Horley/Gatwick Airport.
The reduced service is expected to be in place all day, and Network Rail expect to complete the engineering work tomorrow evening, in time for the start of service on Tuesday.
GTR have stated they're aware this will mean difficult journeys for many, and they are very sorry for the impact this will have for passengers and they would encourage anyone affected to claim for Delay Repay for any delays they experience to their journeys.
