Mims Davies MP speaks at International Women's Day Fair in Parliament

International Women’s Day this year fell on Sunday 8th March, and 2026 also marks 115 years since the first International Women’s Day gathering in 1911.

As the Shadow Minister for Women and Equality, Mims was honoured to speak at the event reflecting on progress to date and to highlight practical, evidence-based approaches to advancing gender equality in the workplace.

Mims was thrilled to join The Women and Work All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) which is a cross-party group, providing a parliamentary forum to constructively examine how we can deliver gender balance within the economy and improve career outcomes and opportunities for women.

This includes exploring the responsibilities of employers and what more is required from the private, public and third sectors to deliver the Government’s ambitions for women and work.

Mims Davies MP said:

I was honoured to speak this week at the APPG's International Women's Day Fair.

The Fair was a policy-focused event in Parliament, bringing together organisations that are leaders in this space to showcase best practice, celebrate innovation, and share learning.

As the Shadow Minister for Women and Co-Chair of APPG For Women in Parliament , I was honoured to join guests and discuss gender balance. 2010-2024 the number of companies which are led by women has increased to 20.1% with over two million more women are in work, boosting the employment and growing the economy.

I am pleased to report the gender pay gap has decreased and fallen by a quarter in the last decade and of course there is more to do when it comes to workforce representation and leadership.
