Independents' Day is fast approaching and I am extremely passionate about supporting the small independent retailers in Mid Sussex, so try to visit as many as I can. It is always wonderful to find out how they are getting on and hear all the lovely success stories. Please do shop with these retailers where possible so they can thrive in our community and continue to trade successfully. Let us use their services and support the best we can.
Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July marks Independents’ Day UK 2022 in partnership with Local Rewards, the culmination of all year-round campaigns to promote small, independent retail businesses around the UK.
The campaign is supported by a number of trade organisations, including the Independent Retailers' Confederation; bira, the British Independent Retailers' Association; the Federation of Independent Retailers and the Association of Town & City Management.
This year, the campaign is being run in partnership with Local Rewards, a high street guides service (https://www.localrewards.chat/) that allows shop owners to communicate with and reward shoppers locally, which has been created with the intention of ‘levelling the playing field’ between local retailers and giants like Amazon.
