ShopAppy is a great way for residents to shop online locally as well as in person. It was founded by keen shopper Jackie Mulligan in 2016. Jackie along with her friends, were worried about seeing many of their great local shops struggling because of the increasing competition from online shopping giants. With some shops closing to become online sellers - leaving vacant shops in the town.
Commenting, Mims Davies MP said:
“With increasing numbers of people shopping online, ShopAppy is a great way to be able to support our local high street from the comfort of our own homes. Do look to see if what you can purchase is available from your local shops first. If you know of a shop or business that has not signed up, do ask them to do so. Mid Sussex District Council is subsidising independent businesses across Mid Sussex to sign up to ShopAppy.com for free until March 2023. If you are in need of assistance the ShopAppy team are also there to help”
Dr Jackie Mulligan, says: “We are very excited to be working across Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint on the launch of ShopAppy.com here. It could not be a more critical time for businesses to work together and make it easier for locals to spend closer to home. When we spend local, our spend stays local – so whether you use ShopAppy to browse and go in person or to book something or shop online, you can easily help your area – because where you spend matters for local jobs and local businesses.”
Burgess Hill and its surrounding area is the first to launch, with further launches planned in and around East Grinstead and Haywards Heath later this summer, once a good selection of businesses have signed up.
