Mims Davies MP updates residents on Rail Services during Extreme Weather
I have been contacted by GTR to share the below information with passengers of Southern, Thameslink, Great Northern and Gatwick Express.
GTR have stated that due to the extreme heat, those who need to travel should check journeys very carefully and have a back-up plan as disruption and delays will be more likely during hot weather.
GTR have summarised the below:
Gatwick Express:
- Services will be suspended from early afternoon, with Southern and Thameslink services remaining available between Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London.
Southern:
- West London Line services suspended after 12:00
- From 10:00, services between Brighton and Southampton, and Barnham and Bognor Regis will be suspended, with services between London Victoria and Bognor Regis/Portsmouth only running to Bognor Regis.
- In the evening peak, fewer services will operate between Sutton and London terminals stations.
Great Northern:
- Fewer trains during the evening peak between Moorgate and Welwyn Garden City, Moorgate and Hertford North, and King’s Cross and Letchworth.
- Services between King’s Lynn, Ely and London King’s Cross will be suspended, with an hourly shuttle service operating between King’s Lynn and Cambridge
Thameslink:
- No changes beyond the amended service already in place following the incident near Bedford on Friday.
