Eastleigh MP Mims Davies is urging motorists to not to drink or drug drive over the festive season.
The move comes after figures from the Website MoneySuperMarket shows that 1.16 per every 1000 drivers in Eastleigh have a drink or drug driving conviction.
The statistic makes the constituency below average in the country for the offences with Crewe in Cheshire the highest for drink and drug driving and motorists in central London the lowest offenders.
“Drink or drug driving could cost lives this Christmas and it will lead to a heavy fine, disqualification from driving and even prison for those who commit these offences,” said Mims.
“Every year Hampshire police have their campaign to try and stop people drink or drug driving and I would like to add my support to it.
“Please organise a dedicated driver during the party season or make sure taxis are booked well in advance to avoid the temptation of getting behind the wheel intoxicated at this time of year.”
