The Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies, joined a meeting of the new Wine GB All Party Parliamentary Group hosted by fellow West Sussex MP, Andrew Griffith to discuss updates surrounding the British Wine Industry including seasonal labour and the reopening of the hospitality industry.
The meeting was also joined by the Secretary of State for International Trade, Rt Hon Liz Truss MP to discuss the opportunities for British Wine in the upcoming UK- Trade talks with both Japan and the USA.
Commenting, the Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies said:
“It was great to have the opportunity to meet, virtually, and discuss the huge impact British wine, the current challenges facing the industry at the moment due to the public health emergency as well as the wide ranging opportunities in the future including a significant number of future jobs as the industry grows post Covid 19 impact.
“Also having the opportunity to hear from the Secretary of State for International Trade was great. It was very encouraging to hear about the future opportunities for our great Mid Sussex wine producers overseas in future and hear of Government’s determination to seek global opportunities for UK producers. We have magnificent Sussex Wine being produced both in Mid Sussex at Bolney Wine Estate and by others very nearby. There are some exciting times to come and I am determined to back our local producers in these challenging times and see their future remains bright. ”
