The Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies is supporting National Numeracy Day on 13th May. Half of working-age UK adults struggle using number and this annual event aims to reframe attitudes and abilities about using numbers in everyday life.
Owing to the lockdown this year’s event is a little different, with National Numeracy Day putting on a virtual, online festival with practical and helpful content for a nation at home covering: helping children to learn; improve self-confidence and their skills.
The Government Skills Toolkit is a website where anyone in the UK can get access to free digital and numeracy training courses.
Commenting the Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies said:
“National Numeracy Day is a great campaign to support people across the country with their number skills. To date 285,000 people have improved their skills using the National Numeracy Challenge. I would encourage anyone who wants to take part in Mid Sussex to do so!
“In our current unprecedented times the Government has also launched the Skills Toolkit to ensure people have the skills they need to find a job if they find themselves out of work. I encourage anyone who wants to get a new skill to check it out!”
