The Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies, has welcomed the success of the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out Scheme. The scheme, which offered up to £10 off meals and soft drinks in participating restaurants throughout August saw over £407,000 discounted off meals for an average of £5.90 per customer in Mid Sussex in 87 restaurants locally.
Commenting, the Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies said:
“It’s great we have so many brilliant pubs, cafes and restaurants, and the Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been such a success in supporting these businesses, many of them independent. With over 69,000 meals claimed through the scheme in Mid Sussex it’s great to see so many people spending their money locally and supporting businesses here in Mid Sussex
“The scheme has helped to restore confidence in going out more locally and I know all of us who took part were conscious of social distancing, handwashing and I want to pay tribute to all of the staff who worked so hard as well as everyone who ate out to help out! It’s great to see life starting to return to normal, slowly and safely of course, and I look forward to working with Mid Sussex District Council and West Sussex County Council to support the local economy in its’ next stage of recovery, through supporting jobs, businesses and livelihoods so we can build back stronger and greener.”
