The Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex Mims Davies has welcomed the announcement by the National Lottery Heritage Fund of their continuing work during the Covid-19 outbreak. The Heritage fund has announced a new £50 million Fund to support organisations during the outbreak and have surveyed 1,250 organisations across the heritage sector regarding the economic impact of the outbreak and they have published their findings and analysis here. The new 50 million fund aims to save heritage put at additional risk by Covid-19 and will focus on the immediate pressures caused by the restrictions currently in place.
Over the course of its 25 year history the National Lottery has contributed over £3bn to community projects in London and the South of England and this has been split between more than 13,000 different projects.
Commenting, The Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies said:
“I’m really pleased so many organisations are continuing to benefit from National Lottery funding during the Covid-19 outbreak. The hard work of these organisations means so much to so many people across the UK and it’s really positive to see this support continue during this time of national crisis. Applications for the new Fund open on 15th April and I encourage all organisations and projects in need of support to apply.
“The National Lottery’s recognition of their important role in supporting organisations across our communities during this difficult time is absolutely right and as the former charities Minister I know just how important it is to local organisations to have support at times such as these. I know the National Lottery recognise this is only the start of their work to support the sector and I welcome this important step in the right direction.”
Ends.
