Mims Davies MP, in her capacity as chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Women in Parliament, has organised a Westminster reception that champions women in Politics, Business and the Media.
Mims said,
‘I was delighted to host such a variety of inspirational speakers for this occasion – not only hearing from Maria Miller MP and Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh MP about their experiences in politics, but also from Baroness Harding of Winscombe and Fiona Cannon OBE about women in a modern economy, and from Sarah Champion on equal representation in media and broadcasting.’
‘Now is the time to be bold, and to promote new business practises that allow both men and women to take on challenging business or parliamentary roles alongside their family responsibilities, should they want to.’
‘International Women’s Day encourages us to reflect on how far we’ve come, both in Parliament and across the nation more broadly, but also how far we have to go before representational equality becomes a reality in all walks of life.’
Mims is grateful to Lloyds Banking Group for their sponsorship of the event. She will continue to speak out on Women’s issues in Westminster and in Eastleigh, and is now looking ahead to the next APPG for Women in Parliament event on the 22nd March.
