MP for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, was thrilled to participate in a roundtable discussion that featured Platinum-selling artist Kate Nash and Mercury Prize nominated singer ESKA, along with the Minister for Women and Equalities Caroline Dineage MP, and representatives from the BBC, Live Nation and Arts Council England.
Mims said, ‘It was heartening to see so many leading individuals around the table today, both in terms of iconic music creators and influential policy makers – there’s clearly a lot of support for improving female representation in the music industry.
‘Having begun my career in radio broadcasting, I know how challenging it can be to find security and support when you are a woman, especially if you’re looking to raise a family.
‘It was a pleasure to be a part of this discussion as we strive to push for gender equality both in our political representatives and in our fantastic, dynamic, creative industries.’
Mims continues to be involved in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport through her position as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Rt. Hon. Matt Hancock, Minister for Digital and Culture, while also tackling women’s issues as chair of the APPG for Women in Parliament.
