Mims spent a morning talking with the Eastleigh Gurkha and Nepalese Association EGNA to discuss the work they do to support over 200 Gurkha and Nepalese residents in Eastleigh.
While the group aim to preserve and celebrate the Nepalese identity with its members, they strive for social inclusion and integration into the wider community. This is achieved through their support with education, especially advancing the English language, and offering advice and counselling to help those in need.
Mims said,
“When I met with the Association I was made to feel very welcome and I was able to get a sense of the inclusive community they are working hard to create in my constituency.”
“I will be following up on the discussions we had today and making enquiries on their behalf for a range of topics. I admire the work the EGNA are doing locally and will continue to offer my support in making residents feel at home in Eastleigh.”
