100 years after women were given the vote, Eastleigh MP Mims Davies is offering a local young woman a significant opportunity to learn key political and business skills in a drive for equality in our modern economy.
Mims explained,
“We’re looking to mentor someone with big dreams for the business world - perhaps even someone who’d like to run her own business one day, or is trying to start up a business at the moment.”
“Not everyone has help and encouragement at home or they may have struggled at school/ But fresh guidance and a new experience could help to make a big difference.”
“I want to offer my time to a young woman from the Eastleigh area over six months, empowering her to develop her skills, confidence and career plans – and to pass on the invaluable advice that I’ve been lucky enough to receive myself.”
“Not only that, but the young woman will also be mentored by Saibh Young, a prominent Director at Lloyds Banking Group. So she’ll benefit both from my experience as an MP and from the experience of an inspirational senior female leader from the world of corporate business.”
“I founded this brand new mentoring programme during my time as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Women in Parliament as I know how priceless having a strong support network of experienced mentors can be when it comes to pursuing your ambitions.”
“As the saying goes, we want to know strong women and we want to be strong women - but, most importantly, we want to raise strong women.”
If you are, or if you know a woman aged 18 to 25 who fits the bill, and would benefit from two mentoring sessions a month for six months, please contact Ellie at ellie@threehands.co.uk to find out more. The application deadline is the 9th of March.
