Eastleigh MP Mims Davies is urging people to have a flu jab this winter after going to a Bishopstoke chemist at the weekend to have the injection herself.
Mims was invited for the jab at Wainwright’s Chemist in Riverside by pharmacist, Sultan ‘Sid’ Dajani to highlight the injection is often available from pharmacies for those who do not get it on the NHS.
“Now winter is coming, I strongly urge everyone to get their free flu jab on the NHS if they are eligible, but for those who aren’t, please consider going to your local pharmacy to get one,” said Mims.
“The fact is flu immunisation is one of the most effective ways to reduce flu cases and relieve pressures on our health and social care services during the winter.
“The cost is around £9 and it could be money well spent for those who have busy lives or important work looking after children or loved ones.
“Having the vaccine can lessen the risk of getting flu and serious complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia.
“It means fewer GP and hospital visits and fewer lost work days so it does make sense to consider it.”
