We reached Christmas! Whether you’re spending the Christmas holidays with friends, family, neighbours, solo, or working - I hope all my constituents in East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages have a joyous Christmas break and take time to recuperate from the year we’ve had. I’d like to take the moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who will be working hard across this festive period, including our amazing local frontline services who I know are sadly very busy this time of year - whether it’s the police, fire department, ambulance service, or our NHS – thank you so much for keeping us safe and healthy, and when the time comes, I wish you a great break, and a great time off.
It’s that magical time of the year where I turn into a reindeer again for the incredible Greenaway Foundation! Each year the Greenaway Foundation send hampers to families who have been nominated as needing extra support which contain all the ingredients needed to cook a two course Christmas Dinner. Children from these families are then encouraged to make Christmas wishes for a Christmas gift via the magical ‘wishing trees’. Last year, along with the huge number of generous volunteers, we successfully delivered to nearly 1,000 families and made over 2,000 wishes come true. I’ve been volunteering since 2020 and I’d like to thank Darren Greenaway, Emma his wife and his incredible team and the business sponsors - for all they do to help so many residents. it is truly inspiring and always an honour to be a part of this fantastic team of volunteers every year. Together, we can make a difference for families in need. If you can help next year by donating or giving your time, please email [email protected].
This time of year isn’t always joyous occasion for some, it isn’t for everyone. If you are struggling support is available. ‘Mind’ is a brilliant mental health charity who provides support and information by phone and email, no matter where you are-more here https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/tips-for-everyday-living/christmas-and-mental-health/useful-contacts/.
Whilst my team will be taking a well-deserved break and my office winding down for Christmas, if you have any urgent casework, please do contact the best team depending on your type of case and please feel free to email me should you need to as we will be checking emails sporadically for any residents in need of urgent help and there will be advice and contact details for other services available on my socials.
Finally, I’d just like to thank every resident, business, farmer, high street shop, school, church, voluntary organisation and so many more who have taken the time to speak with me this year in our fabulous constituency of East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages. As well as those who have joined me for surgery appointments, my ‘Meet Mims’ events , and my pub meets, our constituency wouldn’t be the same without every single one of you and I hope you all have a very lovely Christmas.
