Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who joined me in Barcombe for my in-person ‘Meet Mims’ Q&A event. We discussed a number of topics important to residents, but the main ones included the struggle of trying to book GP appointments and road safety and quality of the roads. We ended the night popping in for a jar at The Bull in Newick and a fantastic curry as always at the Newick Tandoori.
I’m very much looking forward to hearing from more residents on Thursday in Uckfield. This was a sell-out event with over 100 attendees. Due to the high demand from residents, I’m thrilled to be already organising another event for the town in the beginning of September. As well as in East Grinstead, Copthorne, Pease Pottage and more. I was also in the lovely Fairwarp with local County Councillor, Roy Galley. If you know me, you know I love supporting our local pubs - even better is organising events in them! Residents joined me and Roy in The Foresters Arms discussing local issues in a casual setting - and having a drink of course lending our support to the local economy. Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared your concerns and issues on the local area and how we can work together to resolve them particularly connectivity issues
I’d the pleasure of joining the Weir Wood Sport & Leisure Centre Open Day during the weekend meeting with the Sussex Search & Rescue Services team, RSPB, Blacklands Farms and more great groups. Thanks to the brilliant East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service who also showed me how to save someone if they’re drowning!
On Friday, I was also in the beautiful Ashdown Forest area visiting the amazing Hillsdown Farm and Anita who with her leadership support loads of hard-working local businesses and work so hard as farmers to keep food on our plates as well as local start-ups and side projects. We must continue to support our rural economy and do all we can to help them to thrive and to help the rich diversity of small enterprises that flourish in our area.
It was lovely to be out again last weekend on the doorsteps in East Grinstead. I’m always trying my best to be as ‘boots on the ground’ as possible as your MP listening to views, ideas and concerns. If you didn’t catch me and you’ve got an issue I can help with or would like to raise a local or national issue, please don't hesitate to get in touch – [email protected]
Finally, I’ve taken the plunge on TikTok! Please head to my page @mims.davies.mp as I’ll be trying to keep you as updated as possible on all the work I’m doing as your MP, representing you both locally and in Parliament here and across all socials.
