Some actual positive news from South East Water! They are improving their water supply network between High Hurstwood and Burnt Oak, near Uckfield - these water pipes have a history of frequent bursts meaning regular low water pressure or no water for residents - as we all know too well. The crucial upgrades and making the water supply in this area more reliable means replacing roughly 765 metres of pipeline on Burnt Oak Road -starting on Monday 2nd March for up to 14 weeks. If the water supply is needed to be turned off for a short time while they connect the new pipes, they’ve assured me they're let residents know at least 48 hours beforehand, so you can plan ahead. I'll provide further updates as soon as I know more, as we know their communication can leave much to be desired - especially regarding the disgraceful days long outages in EG and the local villages.
I’ve received over 700 emails from residents supporting the social media ban that is being discussed in Parliament and our party policy to act to better protect our youngsters. Thanks to everyone who took time to write in As we know last week, the House of Lords voted to protect our children led by Lord Nash. As a mother with two daughters, I know how much social media can affect our younger generations and the pressures of being online all the time and the feeling of not being able to get away from it all and have some peace. It's time to give kids their childhood back, it's time for them to enjoy being outdoors, and focus on wellbeing and feel supported. Ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day on Tuesday 27th January, I was honoured to sign the Holocaust Educational Trust Book of Commitment in Parliament on behalf of my constituents. I am pledging to remember the 6million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered during the Holocaust, and to honour the survivors who continue to bravely share their stories and educate our younger generations and the hate that still haunts. We must speak out and act against, all forms of antisemitism. This dangerous intolerance must be stopped and freedom of religion and expression of this should always prevail. Our communities must never be divided, and discrimination cannot be allowed to fester once again it feels more vital to act than ever. MPs, Cllrs, and community leaders in all have duty to stand for peace, unity and to bring hope and fellowship.
I was on BBC SE Politics again speaking up on behalf of my residents of EGU and raising your concerns around the Copthorne migrant hotel and Crowborough camp that affects my patch with more media this week - keep an eye out as we celebrate 100 years of the medium of TV which is important for getting key messages across then and now.
