What a few sunny days it’s been! If you follow my social media, you’ll have seen we’d a special guest join us in the constituency – my boss, Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP – the Leader of His Majesty’s Official Opposition.
Kemi joined me on the East Grinstead High Streets speaking with the backbone of our economy - our amazing family businesses, new traders, people holding on and trying to grow, we popped into Kitchens Bespoke Greenway Residential and held a round table at the Railway Pub. With representatives from the East Grinstead Business Association, wider hospitality as well as new business Heath Botanicals, the award-winning Mug Tree, the care sector, horse racing and leisure providers.
The topic of the water outages absolutely came up in conversations and the real impact this has had on the businesses in the constituency who believe they haven't had adequate compensation. Following discussions with the East Grinstead Businesses Association, and businesses themselves throughout a number of weeks, I’ve officially launched my Parliamentary petition below:

It’s crucial we support out hospitality and services sector, hearing and listening to what they need which included less red tape, scrapping of the Labour NI hike, and (un)employment rights act, cheaper energy prices, and the back of more extortionate local parking charges, especially Sundays and Bank Holidays from the Lib Dem led council.
We will scrap businesses rates for most high street businesses, get rid of stamp duty, and back local people in East Grinstead, Uckfield and our villages and beyond to get on with their lives and be able to thrive at work. Our businesses need to have the opportunity to take on young people, offer more hours, and grow.
We are under new leadership with Kemi who speaks the truth and is rightly renewing our party - we Conservatives are back in business and always backing local businesses.
Speaking of EG, I’m delighted a lease has now been signed on the Permanent Banking Hub for the town- vital for long term footfall and the support we need. We have the temporary banking hubs in action for both East Grinstead and Uckfield, but we now have the official permanent EG site - 83/85 London Road, East Grinstead RH19 1EQ.
I’ll of course keep you updated on the permanent site for Uckfield too.
As the Shadow Minister for Women, a focus for me is women’s healthcare which is vital. This month is Endometriosis Action Month. Around 1.5 million women in the UK are currently living with the pain and agony of Endometriosis. The time it takes for diagnosis takes far too long and it is only getting worse.
Women’s concerns and symptoms too often are dismissed as simply “painful periods” and their health and wellbeing are ignored. It’s vital to raise awareness, demand improved care and treatment.
Endometriosis prevents 1 in 10 women from having good quality daily lives-interrupting work and homelife. That is why I’m supporting Endometriosis action month and calling for a reduction of diagnosis length and suitable treatment.
