Last month was Endometriosis Action Month and I greatly thank women in my area who raised their voices on worsening diagnosis times on a condition affecting 1.5 million women leaving them to attend A&E or be told this level of pain is normal.
I am determined to help my affected constituents with capacity and access issues at the NHS, improve diagnoses and end delays. I spoke out in Parliament for Eleanor, from East Grinstead, and other local women who simply want better understanding and crucially real action.
I’ve joined 115 Parliamentarians backing transport industry calls for better roadside facilities for lorry drivers to improve welfare and help tackle freight crime. Truck drivers keep our shops stocked, our hospitals supplied and our businesses running. More than 2,307 people work in transport and logistics.
The RHA, which represents the haulage, coach and van sectors, says there is a national shortage of 11,000 lorry parking spaces, with police estimating that freight crime has cost the UK economy more than £1bn since 2020. They deserve safe, secure places to rest, and access to decent roadside facilities when they stop and I’m a proud supporter of the RHA and truck drivers who keep our economy moving.
As we support this campaign the cost of transport and fuel is sky high. The Middle East situation is of deep worry, and we need to balance of energy needs and provisions with new large and small scale nuclear and balance this with solar, renewables, and battery storage. Energy of any type is not simple, always clean and cheap and that’s why our Conservative cheap power plan matters as we balancing protecting our country while protecting our energy security.
Meanwhile, thank you to constituents who have contacted me regarding biodiversity and rewilding - I want to take this opportunity to express how grateful I am that so many of us want to protect and restore our natural world. See News on my website for more.
My Parliamentary Petition for our local businesses receive appropriate compensation from South East and the January water outages is still running -please add your voice here: https://www.mimsdavies.org.uk/mims-davies-mps-petition-business-compensation-south-east-water
The evidence session this week in Parliament from the company has caused huge media interest. Dealing with the fall out is vital. I will keep you updated as ever.
Its local election season – you will know by the paper on doors mats and the candidate’s announcements. I want to use this opportunity to thank all those stepping forward in whatever area or party. It takes guts to stand up for what you believe in, and I do know what a toll it takes on family and friends.
The negativity cannot win and I am pleased as the 380th woman elected to Parliament to see that our community steps up and am proud to stand for election and this is an opportunity our great and precious democracy affords us.
We cannot ever take it for granted particularly with the backdrop of deep geopolitical and real global turmoil.
