My team and I are very excited to be holding my latest local Women in Leadership Business Breakfasts on Friday 15th May, 7:30am – 9:30am. Register for tickets via - https://mims-womens-business-breakfast.eventbrite.co.uk
Ladies - do start your day with inspiration, new connections, and an opportunity to come together, share ideas, challenges and crucially support local growth and boost positivity.
It will be in the Forest Row area - location will confirmed to attendees only, closer to the event, due to security considerations. This is always a really lovely way to meet and network with other local women entrepreneurs and business owners local to you and share tips, advice, and connections to help growth. Finding time to network is often a challenge and the feedback has been that local ladies enjoy this style of event and timing. further ‘Meet Mims’ events will be shared soon, as well as future pub meets and more business events. I enjoy these greatly and always am keen to see and hear from constituents year-round.
We are delighted to have two inspiring speakers joining us – local Conservationist and Adventurer, Tom Hicks, and retired Olympian and local Business Woman, Karen Pickering MBE - who will have a lot to share. So don't wait - tickets are limited - sign up now.
If you follow me on my social media , you’ll have seen there are new changes being announced to our train services from May and over the Summer. The next national rail timetable change is for journeys from Sunday 17th May.
For Thameslink, Southern, Great Northern and Gatwick Express services, changes are limited and additional services will run on the East Grinstead line with small changes made to the times of trains across the network to improve punctuality. Alongside this, between mid-July and the start of September changes will be made to services to match the changes in demand seen as residents change their travel patterns over the school summer holidays.
This will see a combination of earlier trains running between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria, more services during the middle of the day for some stations making it easier for people to go on days out. Additionally, a small number of services will also be withdrawn on some routes where the number of peak time or off-peak passengers falls over the school holidays. A summary of these changes is also available on their websites.
It was a privilege to join Hospice UK’s Parliamentary event and speak with the incredible, hard-working teams from some of our local hospices here in EGU including St Catherine’s Hospice, the Southern Hospice Group, and St Wilfred’s Hospice.
Their compassion and dedication supporting residents and local families at some of the most difficult times is truly inspiring. Our ageing population and its challenges means that more and more people are living with complex, long-term conditions such as frailty and dementia, which require specialist management.
I’d the opportunity to hear first-hand about both the deep financial challenges they face and the difference they make every single day and how I can further assist them as the local MP. I will of course continue to champion their brilliant work. This Labour Government needs to step up and listen to them.
Meanwhile, I pleased to join Archie and his mum Katie in Parliament, and other affected families- as well as former MP Dehenna Davison, discussing the Lobular Moon Shot Project for Lobular Breast Cancer and how Westminster can help make get action to make a difference and improve early diagnosis and care.
This cancer be hard to detect on scans and may present somewhat differently from other forms, which is why awareness and regular check-ups are so important. Early detection crucially saves lives so we must all be sure to know our bodies, know the symptoms- so don’t hesitate to seek medical advice if something doesn’t feel right.
