The future is bright!
I was thrilled to welcome some of my younger constituents to Parliament for a tour last week. Their enthusiasm was fantastic to see - they asked thoughtful questions, showed a genuine interest in how Parliament works, and were eager to learn more about our democracy, what it’s like to be an MP, and views on national topics. It was great to see so many engaged young people taking such an active interest in public life and interested in our history.
I am already organising another tour for all residents of East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages in October. Keep an eye on my newsletters and socials for more updates and a link to register for tickets which are on a first come first serve basis.
Being available and visible for my constituents remains an important priority, despite the frustrating and concerning challenges around security - this should never waiver.
I had the privilege of visiting Headway in Newick seeing first-hand the incredible work they do to support people living with brain injuries and their families.
As you’ll probably know, this charity is very close to my heart as they helped support my dad after a head injury and gave my mum and our family respite.
The dedication, compassion, and commitment of the team is truly inspiring, but like so many charities, they are facing real financial pressures. Demand for their services continues to grow, while funding becomes increasingly difficult. If you're able to, please consider supporting our local charities - whether that's by donating, volunteering, fundraising or simply helping to spread the word. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a big difference.

In Westminster I had the privilege of meeting again with Joe, the son of Lindsay and Craig Foreman, my constituents who have been arbitrarily imprisoned by Iran. This couple were innocent tourists who need to come home to their family.
No family should have to endure the uncertainty and heartache they are facing. I want to reassure everyone that their concerns have been heard, and I remain committed to raising this matter at every opportunity and making their case.
Lindsay and Craig must not be forgotten. We will continue to press for every possible effort to secure their safe return and keep their case firmly on the agenda until they are released and reunited with their loved ones.
It seems we have a new Prime Minister too! I do congratulate Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP on taking office and wish him every success in serving our country.
While we will undoubtedly disagree on many policies, the challenges facing the United Kingdom demand serious debate, robust scrutiny, and a commitment to the national interest. Whilst he has no current clear plan as I write, I trust he will do what is right for our residents, our business, and communities.
The Conservative Party as His Majesty’s Official Opposition will hold the new government to account, offering constructive opposition where appropriate and standing firm for lower taxes, economic responsibility, stronger borders, and opportunity for hardworking families.
Our democracy is strongest when government and opposition alike work with integrity and respect and we need action and answers.
