I am very aware of the Copthorne Hotel situation that has been causing huge amounts of stress, deep frustration, and upset for many residents and I heard this at my Meet Mims event for Copthorne residents and from speaking with them individually in surgeries, in letters, emails, and I have been raising this with Government Ministers.
Following this, I have launched a Dimmer Parliamentary petition for residents declaring that the Copthorne Hotel should be swiftly returned to its former use as a major local employer, valuable Gatwick airport accommodation, and highly valued community hub. This is currently a paper petition, and I will be launching an online version too shortly for wider constituents to see and support.
Speaking of our wonderful constituency, I am thrilled to be hosting another ‘Meet Mims’ event in Uckfield for residents of EGU to meet me, hear about the work I’m conducting on your behalf, both locally and in Parliament, and ask me questions you have on local issues.

Meanwhile, I have officially launched my online survey inviting EGU residents to share their views with me on the Nationalisation of Rail.
Rail services are a lifeline for many across our constituency - whether travelling to work, visiting family, accessing education, or enjoying leisure time. As our railways undergo significant change, it's important residents can share experiences and expectations. Reports of being kicked off at wrong stations and being stranded are growing, with Buxted, Uckfield, and East Grinstead travelling public apoplectic and fed up once again.
That is why I have launched this survey, I want to hear directly from constituents about what's working, what isn't, and what you want to see from a publicly owned railway. Your updated views will help inform my work in Parliament and discussions with the new Government and its Ministers.

As we are now somehow in August - how did that happen?? This year is racing by!
My constituency team and I are around as you would expect but we are balancing annual leave across the EGU team. I will be knocking doors with my Cllrs and volunteers, at various local and summer events - so I won’t be a summer stranger! So many great events, fairs, and community events happening it’s keeping us all busy like the final really successful East Court Live last weekend put on again by the brilliant Town Council team in EG.
With the hot weather and the challenges it entails we are covering all bases and sharing all information you need. Particularly on the water situation, fire risks, trains, and much more. So, you won’t get a total break from me sadly!
