I was so sorry to hear of the terrible fire in the Rowfant area in my constituency. There has been a lot in the media highlighting just how serious it was. I recently spoke to some of the shocked local businesses, residents, and distraught car owners about the awful fire and its impact on my constituents and holidaymakers.
I am extremely grateful for all the immensely brave efforts of our tremendous local fire services from across Sussex in containing the fire and limiting the impact. I thank local Councillors for their updates and insights. I am so grateful that this concerning fire was held back from any more significant local impact and mercifully no one was injured. There is a live police investigation, and the fire services have concluded their onsite work.
I am aware residents of Copthorne, and nearby residents are concerned regarding the increasingly number of Gatwick related cars being parked in the area – I will be raising this too.
I am thrilled in under a month I’ll be hosting my first Jobs Fair in Uckfield for my residents of East Grinstead, Uckfield, and the villages. Bringing together local employers, training providers, and employment support organisations all under one roof with those looking for their next opportunities.
All happening on Thursday 24th September, 10am – 2pm, Uckfield. Register for free tickets here - https://Mims-Davies-Jobs-Fair.eventbrite.co.uk
Whether you're looking for your first job, considering a career change, returning to work, looking for seasonal work, or exploring training opportunities, this event is a great chance to meet local employers face-to-face, discover current vacancies, and receive advice to support your next career move. My team and I do look forward to welcoming you and helping connect local people with local opportunities.
Due to the high demand of my last Uckfield event last year pulling in over 100 residents, I am thrilled to be hosting yet another Q&A for my residents. I will be hosting another ‘Meet Mims’ Q&A in the centre of Uckfield on Wednesday 30th September at 19:00 – please register for free but limited tickets here - https://Meet-Mims-Uckfield-September-2026.eventbrite.co.uk
This is an opportunity for me to meet you face-to-face, answer your questions on the local area, and hear about the work I’m carrying out on your behalf both locally and in Parliament. I recognise headline party politics can sometimes be a turn off for some, but it is still Parliament that must make important decisions on so many issues that the country faces, and I want to ensure I am fully representing your views as your local MP.
