A sincere thank you to every local business, charity, organisation, Sussex Police, and residents who took the time out of their busy work schedules and lives to join my team and I for our inaugural EGU Jobs Fair in Uckfield at the Civic centre.
I was honoured to have over 24 stallholders and over 100 residents join us at the event - it was a fantastic atmosphere, with some great conversations, new connections, and plenty of enthusiasm from both employers and jobseekers.
We have had really positive feedback from job seekers, employers, and voluntary organisations. I’ll certainly be organising another one next year so keep an eye on my socials and subscribe to my newsletter through my website to be kept up to date.
Following the Jobs Fair, I had the honour of joining Nick and the team at PaellaFella for their official opening and ribbon cutting of their new premises on Paddockhurst Road near Turners Hill.
This wonderful celebration was joined by residents from all over and it such a brilliant business run by fabulous people – I wish them every success on their growing business and highly recommend you book an event with them.
I also joined residents and Councillors in East Grinstead for our ‘Do you want to be a councillor?’ event.
This was a chance to join residents in a relaxed local pub environment and answer any of their questions about what being a Councillor is really like and how they can get involved in the town and wider.
I also joined residents in East Grinstead for my lunchtime Supermarket Surgery where I come to you and you can raise any issues with me during your weekly shop, ensuring I’m as accessible as possible. There will be others soon - so don’t worry if you couldn’t make this one!
I joined a meeting with the GTR management team and Network Rail to discuss our rail services here in Uckfield and I was pleased to hear the 7:03am service is now back to running with 6 - 8 carriages, which will hopefully provide some much-needed additional capacity for passengers.
Most importantly, I made sure to share the concerns, frustrations, and experiences that so many of you have taken the time to share with me via email and my online survey. Your feedback matters, and I will continue to raise these issues directly with those responsible for our services.
There is of course still more work to do to improve reliability, capacity, and the overall experience for passengers using the Uckfield station, but I will keep pushing for the improvements our community needs and deserves.
I also joined Meridian ITV again recently raising the concerns even more on the constant water outages in our constituency.
Reservoirs are getting are fuller, and yet we worry our taps may run dry - we need to know what is going on here, why this is happening, and how we can prevent this from happening in the future ensuring residents, businesses, hospitals, charities, farmers, livestock owners, and more aren't struggling without water.
I can assure you that I will continue pressing both the local water companies and the Government to deliver the improvements our communities sorely need.
I greatly look forward to meeting even more residents at my ‘Meet Mims’ Q&A event this week in Uckfield with over 100 residents signed up to join. I like a quiet evening!!
I’ll be discussing the work I’ve been conducting on your behalf, both locally and in Parliament, and mainly answering your questions with a local journalist putting me on the spot!

Next week I will be reporting back from my party conference. How has September copped by so quickly!
