Great news for all Mid Sussex residents – the Prime Minister has delivered on his promise to help the NHS build back better and faster under this Conservative Government.
Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust will receive £3.7million in order for them to expand waiting areas and increase the number of treatment cubicles, helping them boast A&E capacity by providing additional space, reducing overcrowding and improving infection control measures.
Projects will be completed by the start of next year, so hospitals will benefit from the upgrades during the peak of winter. The PM wants to urge the public to feel confident to visit A&E for the treatment they need, reassuring those who remain concerned that strict social distancing and hygiene measures are in place to protect patients.
It is great to see the PM delivering on his promise to invest in world class infrastructure and I am sure every Trust will be happy to have this much needed injection of support, after the fantastic job they have been doing fighting Covid-19! The Health Minister Edward Argar MP stated “our NHS did an amazing job to ensure emergency care continued to be available for everyone who needed it during the peak of this pandemic. Today, we are announcing details of the Trusts across the country, who will receive a share of £300 million to upgrade their A&Es and support emergency care to help them to continue to deliver safe and accessible services throughout the normally busy winter period.”
I have had many constituents email me worried about the NHS and GPs capacity, so I am delighted at the news of this funding, which is part of our record investment into our NHS infrastructure and ensures our health services continue to meet the needs of the present, as well as having the capacity for future demand placed upon it.
We will continue to invest in our NHS to make sure it can continue to do the incredible work it does on a daily basis, which has been particularly prevalent in the last few months!
